Despite the issue, Lloris did play the full 90 minutes of the match.

Lloris has struggled while starting most matches

While he has performed well for the France national team, Lloris has struggled a bit for Spurs in recent months. In fact, the keeper currently leads the Premier League in errors leading to goals with four. No other player in England’s top flight has more than two.

Nevertheless, Lloris has still been a mainstay between the sticks this season for Antonio Conte’s club. He has missed just one out of the possible 28 total matches between the top flight and Champions League competitions during the current campaign. The only match that he didn’t play was a 2-2 draw against Brentford on Boxing Day. Fraser Forster made a rare appearance in the club’s starting XI that day.

Backup Forster steps in during Hugo lloris injury

Forster will now most likely be the main man for Conte moving forward. Along with the lone Premier League game in December, Forster has also made three appearances in domestic cup competitions this season as well. The Englishman previously suffered a 2-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup back in November. However, Forster also kept clean sheets against Portsmouth and Preston in FA Cup play.

Spurs will try to keep momentum going even without Lloris this weekend. The north London club face Leicester City on Saturday with a chance to possibly get into the top four of the table. Forster then has a tough task of trying to stop a potent AC Milan team in the Champions League round of 16 on Valentine’s Day.

The relatively tough February schedule for Spurs rounds out with two London derbies. They will host both West Ham and Chelsea before an FA Cup clash with Sheffield United on March 1st.
