Djed Spence to Tottenham – The latest
A fresh insight into the efforts of Tottenham Hotspur to add further to what has proven an altogether fruitful opening to the summer transfer window at the club has been provided on Saturday.
The player in focus this evening? Middlesbrough star Djed Spence.
Speculation surrounding the future of defender Spence has of course been rampant over the course of the last couple of weeks.
This comes with the 21-year-old, fresh off helping Nottingham Forest back to the top-flight of English football courtesy of the Championship playoffs, piquing the interest of a whole host of clubs.
Forest, for their part, are unsurprisingly keen to make Spence’s arrival permanent, owing to his impressive exploits whilst on loan at the City Ground this past season.
It is the aforementioned Spurs, though, who have long positioned themselves at the front of the queue for the talented full-back’s signature.
This comes with Antonio Conte understood to have identified the right side of his defence as being in need of reinforcement, and Spence viewed as a long-term solution.
Some outlets, in turn, went as far as to suggest last week that the youngster’s move to north London was as good as done.
And yet, to this point, official confirmation of as much has not been forthcoming.
A fresh insight into the situation has, on Saturday, therefore been provided.
The info comes courtesy of transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has confirmed that negotiations between the respective boards at Tottenham and Middlesbrough are expected to recommence next week.
The former, it is understood, are eager to get a deal done as soon as possible.
Elsewhere, the transfer team at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have also set their sights on the addition of a new centre-back ahead of next season.
Djed Spence deal. No negotiations this weekend, Tottenham are really interested since March but still no official bid, new direct contacts expected next week. 🏴 #THFC
