Inner Circle Sports co-founder Steve Horowitz helped explain how these figures keep accelerating with foreign investors. “With an EPL club, you own a team in the best and most watched soccer league in the world’s favorite sport,” Horowitz told Sportico.
“It is the attraction for American investors and those from every corner of the globe.” Horowitz is an investment banker that has been involved in European clubs such as Liverpool, Inter Milan, Crystal Palace, and Wrexham.
Manchester United valuation is Music to Glazer family ears
The Glazer family surely welcomes news of the valuation. The current United owners are looking to sell the club and have been reportedly seeking $6 billion for a full sale. This hefty price tag has supposedly put buyers off of a possible purchase. Nevertheless, the Glazers could also be open to a minority investment so that they can remain at the club.
Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, and Chelsea round out Sportico’s valuation rankings for the Premier League. While United’s 28% jump is impressive, it’s nowhere near the league’s largest two-year increase in valuation.
Newcastle United are supposedly now worth $440 million. This is a 63% increase in valuation compared to the outlet’s 2021 figures. Chelsea recorded the weakest increase in the rankings with just a 4% growth in valuation.
